In the 1860s, Sunnyvale was primarily agricultural land, with vast orchards of apricots, cherries, and prunes stretching across the valley. The Heritage Orchard site preserves a piece of this history, showcasing the farming techniques and varieties of fruit trees that once dominated the landscape. This orchard was part of the larger agricultural boom that transformed the Santa Clara Valley into the 'Valley of Heart's Delight' before it became known as Silicon Valley.

Historical Significance

This site represents the transition from Mexican ranchos to American agricultural development in the mid-19th century.
