Hi! I'm Meera M, a Girl Scout from Troop 60402 and a lifelong Sunnyvale resident. Growing up here, I've watched the city change and grow — but also seen how important pieces of our history have quietly disappeared. From historic landmarks closing down to small businesses being replaced, I realized how much of Sunnyvale's identity is at risk of being forgotten.

As part of my Girl Scout Gold Award, I created Preserving Sunnyvale's Heritage to raise awareness about the city's rich history and encourage the community to support the places and stories that make Sunnyvale special. This project includes an interactive map of historic sites, video interviews with longtime residents, an educational exhibit at the Sunnyvale Library, and a community event to celebrate our shared heritage.

Thank you for visiting — I hope this project inspires you to reconnect with Sunnyvale's past and be part of its future.

Sunnyvale Heritage Day Event Summary

A celebration of community, history, and the stories that connect us all.

Event Video Highlights

Watch highlights from our Sunnyvale Heritage Day celebration featuring community stories and historical reflections.

Sunnyvale Heritage Day was a joyful celebration of our city's history, stories, and community spirit. We were honored to host a panel of incredible speakers: Mayor Larry Klein, Councilmember Murali Srinivasan, Heritage Park Museum founder and director Laura Babcock, Margaret Lawson, director of the museum store, and Alexandra Longacre (she/her), Library Assistant with the Department of Library and Recreation Services. Their stories and reflections brought Sunnyvale's past to life and reminded us why preserving our history matters.

Guests explored artifacts graciously shared by the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum, giving everyone the chance to connect with the city's roots in a tangible way. Adding even more color and creativity, children from a local art studio displayed their artwork inspired by Sunnyvale's landmarks, showing how the past continues to spark imagination in the present.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our panelists, the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum for loaning artifacts, and the Sunnyvale Public Library for generously opening their doors to us. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this day so special — together, we kept Sunnyvale's stories alive.
